A visit from Mr. Heron.

Went down to the canal earlier today, and met a beautiful heron who decided to share his morning with me, and pose beautifully for some photos.

I’ve developed a habit of editing photos. Although I’m certainly no professional, and I know many disapprove of photo editing (apart from the odd sharpen), I feel it enables me to make a photo into my own. I love trying to make a photo into a form of abstract art, or into a more vintage style, creating something new and interesting.. often making it as far away from the original as possible. I can spend hours editing just one photo.. Much more fun. :)

Personally, I think photo editing the way you’re doing it is fine, and good. You’re using it as an artistic tool, to as you said, create something new. And good job! This is excellent! Photo editing for the purpose of fakery is all I have a problem with… Even then, if it’s an obvious illusion and not an attempt at deception, I’m ok with it. Especially if it’s hilarious!

I see the same Herons in the pond in my back yard fairly often. They’re easy to spook, yet will stay for quite a while if you don’t spook them. As if they just need some time to get used to you and decide maybe you don’t actually want to eat them… :)

Thank you, I’m glad it comes across like that! Hahahaa what a disturbing photo.

Yes, although I don’t see them that often, so it’s lovely when they pay a visit. Oh, and hopefully they don’t think I’d eat them – it’d be a first for me, being vegetarian and all! :)
